Will You Freak Out if it's Hillary (with NEATO Spread)

As they say at the amusement park, "strap yourself in."

Will anyone object if Senator Clinton is the VEEP?

I don't like Hillary, but if she's the VEEP I will salute.

While I disagree with her, I do think she's attractive (she looks alot younger than her age), plus she's devious (which is alluring).  Hell, if she wasn't married, I'd ask her out.  We'd have a great time fighting like cats and dawgs. She would get hooked on me - I like conflict and she digs swagger.

Look, I come to the issue from my prior experience as a Deaniac.  I didn't get Howard on the ticket and it was a let down.  It was sad, to be sure, but I didn't I didn't freakout or worse, vote for Bush.

Ditto with Gore putting Joementum on the ticket.

P.S. According to CBS and Howard Fineman at MSNBC the selection will likely be announced Thursday nite or Friday morning.   And Andrea Mitchell says Saturday in Springfield.

That makes sense, Bill Clinton named Al Gore as his VEEP on Friday, July 10, 1992, three days before the Democratic convention.

Of course, that could be a head fake and the announcement could be made in a few hours!

P.S.S. Also, Andrea and Rich Lowery of N. Review say McSame is asking state party chairs if the Fundies would freak if he VEEPS fellow war monger, Joe Lieberman.   Of course, there is another side to this coin.   Another reporter, I think Jonathan Alterman, says this type of inquiry is only ruse, used to make the selection of Mitt Romney more palatable.   Palatable, cuz the Fundies don't like morons Mormons.   What an effen party; the Republicans.

Al - You know you have lots more great pictures of the two of them. Let it rip. Comparing Hillary to Lieberman? Come on. And no excuses to post "girly" pictures, okay? It demeans us all...unless you post some better beefcake pictures and go for the body beautiful stance. Think firemen calendars, etc. Or just save your pictures for your own private use, Dude! We get what you're into!

by Jeter on Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 04:38:01 AM EST

I would let it rip, but it's late (2.00 / 1)

I don't post Girlie pix.  I post exotic pix of the male and female form.  I have a long, documented history.  And as you know, some women like the female form, as well.

I'm not comparing Hillary to Joementum, I'm comparing disappointment among various factions, within the party.  After all, I mentioned Howard first.

And some men like the male form, too.  It's a wonderful, complicated, diverse world!

BTW, got any exotic pics of George Stephanopoulos? :-)

Whoever he takes... (2.00 / 3)

I've already reconciled myself to the fact that it won't be somebody I would pick if I were running for president.  But then, I'm NOT running for president.

I think we have to just accept that there is some strategy involved in this, and the compromises that he has to make may not all be on the surface.  So I think we should save our second-guessing until after the election is over.  We all got a chance to say who he should pick, and few of us will be right.  Let's commit to try to see the bright side of his choice.  EVEN if it is Hillary.

Why would I freak, shes a great campaigner and helps his numbers in apalachia. That would include parts of Ohio, Va, and NC. I think PA is blue anyway.

I will laugh my ass off - - -- (2.00 / 0)

as all the 'bots turn on a dime and sing her praises.
And, then I'll sigh over their dismay over the years as they realize the truly electible truly progressive nominee who connects with the voters is the 2008 Vice Presidential nominee.
PS - but she and Bill ran a horribly racist campaign - - they even called for his assassination! - - how could any self respecting AA man choose her for his VP?
John McCain says he would stay in Iraq for 100 years? That's crazy talk!

Re: I will laugh my ass off - - -- (2.00 / 0)

An Interesting, but not a Surprising predicted reaction. The die-hard, or PUMA, or whatever the proper term is represents a diminishingly small part of the electorate - and one which has not, IMHO, driven the Veep selection decision process.
Here's why: If Hillary is not the selectee, then this hardcore anti-Obama group will be made even harder core (which is a meaningless distinction). If, OTOH, Hillary is selected, then a small part of this already small but vocal whatever-they-wish-to-be-called may peel off and join in support of the Party Ticket. This would be nice, but not decisive due to the small size and...

Hillary would alienate some of Obama's non-affilliated voters and of course the Republicans would bring out the attacks they had produced and 'in the can' for the person who everyone thought would be the candidate in the first place.

whoa whoa whoa there with that racist stuff (2.00 / 1)

so what you effectively said was that each and every black person HAS to be an Oprah fan? Why, just because she is AA too? Do you have any clue how bad that sounds? And somehow not going for her choice in each and every thing is anti-black? Are you sure you want to go that route? Why would her name even come up if kosnomore happened to indicate he was AA? He sure did not mention her but you choose to toss in a black womans name and scold him for that by mocking his screen name?

Re: Will You Freak Out if it's Hillary (with NEATO (2.00 / 3)

I'd prefer Gore or Clark but she'd be ok

Pretty much the same as my opinion during the primaries-- she's not my first or second choice but all I really care about is ending the reign of pubs.

by wrb on Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 07:57:51 AM EST

Like all the other candidates... (2.00 / 1)

she has good points and bad ones. I'm voting for Sen. Obama regardless of the VP's name.

Re: Will You Freak Out if it's Hillary (with NEATO (none / 0)

One of my biggest problems with Clinton has been electability-- her ability to rally the right while losing independents. Thus figured the affect  of adding her would be a wash. However it may be that her supporters' attachment is so personal while others don't much care who VP that there might be a net gain

Re: Will You Freak Out if it's Hillary (with NEATO (none / 0)

It's hard to tell.  In any case, she's probably too old to run for President in 2016 (she would be 68 or something), so it's really just a gesture.

She won't be too old until 2020 when she will be McCain's age. Then she can tell stories about her experience as a Bosnian POW.

Really, how can anyone support this bald-faced liar?

Re: Will You Freak Out if it's Hillary (with NEATO (2.00 / 1)

Your second sentence is right on.  For the first time, Obama's support among Democrats is polling below McCain's support among Republicans (74 to 81 percent).  The way to win this election is by hyping up OUR base, in my book.  We can't put our chips in the "Obamacan" basket; and with independents, I do believe an Obama-Clinton ticket holds a fair deal of appeal.

Me gusta Hillary (2.00 / 0)

I would love it if Hillary is the pick. I think she is uniquely qualified to help put Obama over the top.

I think tales or her negatives are grossly exaggerated. As we saw from her results in the primary.

by carrieboberry on Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 09:35:20 AM EST

Re: Me gusta Hillary (2.00 / 1)

Agreed. I thought she'd be a net negative at one time, but that was before I saw her on the campaign trail. She eroded Obama's lead bit by bit with a gutsy and often nasty campaign.

At first I hated her for it. Now I see just how much her approach is needed.

Yes and no (2.00 / 1)

I will be pissed.  I will still hold my nose and vote for theticket, just like I did with Kerry/Edwards, Gore/Lieberman and Clinton/Gore.

Hell my entire voting life I've had to vote for crap I don't like, i.e. lesser of two evils.

So far all of the 'short list' candidates suck, so it more a question of which exact flavor of crap will be served up on the number 2 spot this year, not whether it will be crap.

Now, should he go for Feingold, Wexler or someone with real progressive chops... that would be great; I am not holding my breath.

Obama seems intent on showing that he can make a bad choice for VP just for the sake of the chattering class.

That being said... Clinton is just ahead of Lieberman on my list of VP choices, which is to say second to last.
